The story behind Moon Crazy

In 1994 Al Rozanski submitted his first comic strip, Moon Crazy, to the eight major newspaper syndicates. Although most of the rejections slips were cordial and polite, almost all were sent out immediately - not a good sign, as editors who like someone's work will hold on to them longer for further review.

But in 1995 Al found a few magazines who were willing to pay for some of the Moon Crazy toons, and he also discovered that original artwork was a bit of a hot commodity, and sold a few panels on eBay.

A few years later, after stepping back and analyzing his earlier work, it was evident to Al that some of the gags could have been rewritten, a few scenes laid out differently and some of the drawing could have been tweaked. So he considered that first attempt at syndication as a great exercise in developing his talent, which paved the way for his next comic strip project, House.

Since 2018 Al has been peddling his gag cartoons to The Wall Street Journal, Saturday Evening Post, Alta, Woman's World, and other publications. Each Saturday evening he posts cartoons at Wallmark.

Below are 16 of the original 32 panels that made up Moon Crazy
